Summit magazine has developed a special initiative called “You Asked For It!” In fact, it is a series of monthly workshops where you, the procurement professional, pose questions and give us your challenges to wrestle with. The discussions will be led by two of the community’s leading professionals, Steve Bauld and Kevin McGuinness.
The series will take place across the country, on demand. It is designed to provide public procurement expertise to the public procurement organizations, at their doorstep, on a tailored basis. The delegates will be asked to identify three large challenges and these will become the agenda for the full day session. Steve Bauld and Kevin McGuinness are prepared to tackle any topic; expert resources may able be brought in to handle specific topics on a guest appearance basis. The format provides the opportunity to work out real life strategies for difficult aspects of public procurement, with other seminar participants in a safe environment.
This is not designed to be Public Procurement 101, but in fact to provide peer support to tackle the areas of procurement that officials struggle with on a daily basis there must be at least three! The series will meet the demand we perceive to discuss and debate some of the finer points in public procurement and its management, an opportunity that is not available elsewhere in Canada.
We invite you to provide us with your comments, and let us know what topics you would like to see addressed. mcegalbreath@summitconnects.com. We are open to running the workshops across the country on a month-to-month basis, so let me know if you have an anchor group in your organization, and we will start to develop an agenda with you for the workshop.
The cost will cover lunch and conference materials, including take-away copies of two of Steve and Kevin’s recent books, one on municipal procurement and the second on leadership.
There is nothing out there like this and we can’t wait to get it started! It is our hope that the workshop will give you real benefit for work at your desk the very next day…but you need to define the challenge!
