From federal, provincial and
municipal governments, to hospitals, school boards, crown corporations
and other public agencies, the public sector is big business
in Canada - $100 billion worth of big business. Summit
magazine, flagship publication of the Summit Group, examines
the intricacies of procurement for the buyers and sellers who
populate that marketplace. The breadth of topics covered includes
green purchasing, electronic tendering, legal and ethical issues,
lifecycle and asset management, public-private partnerships,
proposal writing and evaluation, professional development and
best practices, plus much more.
Launched in November 1998, Summit is both a source
of news and analysis about the evolving public sector marketplace
and a forum for dialogue between governments and their suppliers.
From the Editor
"As Summit develops,
we are becoming a kind of community centre, serving buyers and
sellers alike in an even more vibrant marketplace. In that capacity,
we'll be constantly supplying information and advice to stakeholders
across the country. You can look to:
- The pages of Summit magazine - in print - for reports
and analysis from some of Canada's finest journalists.
- Our website, which includes the best of Summit magazine
as well as links
to other sites and breaking
news from the world of public sector procurement. The real
pros are making it their home page.
- Tools for buyers and
suppliers, including books and videos featuring Summit
columnist Michael Asner, already known to thousands of suppliers
as a reliable guide to the public sector marketplace.
- Finally, our ongoing two-way relationships with the stakeholders
in public sector procurement - governments at all levels, purchasing
organizations, supplier groups and others. Frankly, those connections,
and the interest of readers like you, are what keep our community
centre going.
Taken together, these tools will make Summit the 'go
to' place on the public sector procurement marketplace."
